What We Do?

We tend to make our world a safer place for people

I.S.G.M

This project was implemented through our partner agencies: Soma Action for Somalia project, Women for Peace and Development for the Kenya project and Agro Pastoralist Promotion Association (APA) for the Ethiopian project. As an exit strategy for this project 30 women groups were supported for income generating activities on a matching grant basis. Traditional livestock institutions were also strengthened on all sides of the boarder.

Animal Heath

NORDA is expert in training Community Animal Health Workers (C.A.H.Ws) and providing livestock drugs through establishment of livestock drug store.

Destocking & Restocking

NORDA is experienced in destocking during drought to salvage some values from livestock that would have perished. NORDA is also well experienced with restocking to return the pastoralists to their normal way of life when it rains to avoid pastoralists moving to urban slums.

Food Security

NORDA is specialized in relief operations. These specialized relief operations may have an impact that extends far beyond immediate drought periods. NORDA has worked with WFP on creation of asset through Food For Asset (FFA) programs.

Peace & Stability

We strive to mitigate the risks and factors that contribute to unrest and conflict in communities beforehand by developing the conflict mediation role of cross boarder institutions. This is achieved by strengthening the responsiveness of the institutions to defuse conflict in its early stages. The institutions are encouraged to bring people sharing common boarder from Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya to build linkages and hence increase trust among all the communities.

W.A.S.H

NORDA is focusd on improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (W.A.S.H.) in communities across Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia. NORDA believes that access to clean water and sanitation facilities is a fundamental human right, and works with local communities to promote sustainable W.A.S.H. practices. Through the implementation of W.A.S.H. programs, NORDA aims to reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases and improve overall health outcomes for vulnerable populations. In addition, NORDA advocates for policies and programs that prioritize investment in W.A.S.H. infrastructure and services, with the goal of achieving universal access to clean water and sanitation in the region.
